LeSean McCoy admits he took Dak Prescott trash talk too far

Former Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy is walking back one of his harshest takes this week. Shady joined Games with Names with former Patriots star Julian Edelman and admitted that some of his takes, on Dak Prescott specifically over the last couple of seasons, were simply poorly communicated. The FS1 commentator told Edelman that he’s still “raw and new” when it comes to delivering his opinions.

“I’ve had some struggles with TV, because I’m so raw and new at it,” McCoy said on Games with Names. “But in all reality, I should have said it differently, like ‘he’s playing like a**.’ Because it’s a lot of a** quarterbacks … I think he’s an average, above-average quarterback.”

Last season, leading up to a game between Philadelphia and Dallas, McCoy called Prescott “ass” and “trash.” The comments came as the QB was racking up a career-high number of interceptions for the season. Since those remarks, the Cowboys star has led the team to an NFC East title and cut down on his interceptions considerably.

McCoy delivers harsh criticism of Dak Prescott

The drama only continued to build when McCoy interpreted Prescott’s teammates ragging on him during training camp as them having little respect for their QB. After cornerback Trevon Diggs was filmed trash-talking Prescott, the former Eagle suggested that his teammates don’t respect him and are even “tired” of him.

“I think it’s something there,” McCoy said on Speak. “I mean, I don’t know. I’ve played some football. So I’ll just say this. Let me set the stage. I played with Michael Vick, right? I played with Tom Brady, played with Josh Allen, played with Patrick Mahomes, nobody on the team would even fix they lips to say something like that to the quarterback. A franchise quarterback?”

“Two things it tells me,” McCoy continued. “One is they don’t respect him. And two is they tired of everybody making him the face, the guy and we get in a tight game, he’s the one that blows the game for us… I’m tired bro. You keep doing the same thing.”

The Eagles alum may be new to the hot takes game, but he sure knows how to elicit a response. Even Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy disputed McCoy’s assumptions.

“Yeah, I could go back to… Brett (Favre) and Aaron (Rodgers), they could get into it with the best of them,” McCarthy said during camp. “That’s all normal.”

McCoy seemed to try to smooth things over with the Dallas players and fans when he showed up in Oxnard in August, but his visit was brief. Perhaps his new opinions of Prescott will move the needle more.
