The NFL has officially announced Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., as the official host of Super Bowl LX in February 2026.

The expectation around the league prior to the announcement was that the home of the San Francisco 49ers would be the host of the game, which is currently scheduled for Feb. 8, 2026.

“I feel fairly confident,” San Francisco 49ers CEO Jed York said at the NFL Annual Meetings in March in Arizona. “I don’t know for sure we’re going to get Super Bowl 60, but I feel very confident we’re going to get a Super Bowl in the near future. And it would be great to get Super Bowl LX after hosting Super Bowl L. It feels like Super Bowl L wasn’t that long ago.”

The last time that the Super Bowl was held in the Bay Area was in 2016 for Super Bowl 50. It was also held at Levi’s Stadium as the Denver Broncos faced off against the Carolina Panthers in what ended up being Peyton Manning’s final game in the NFL.

Manning led the Broncos over the Cam Newton-led Panthers win the game 24-10 and to claim his second Super Bowl title.

Lady Gaga performed the National Anthem while Coldplay, Beyonce and Bruno Mars all performed during the halftime show.

The only other time the Super Bowl has been held in Northern California was on Jan. 20, 1985, for Super Bowl XIX. The game was held at Stanford’s Stanford Stadium and featured the 49ers and the Miami Dolphins. In a matchup featuring two of the best quarterbacks in league history — San Francisco’s Joe Montana and Miami’s Dan Marino — the 49ers emerged victorious for the second time in franchise history.

Bill Walsh’s San Francisco offense popped off for 537 total yards in the 38-16 win that wrapped up one of the more impressive seasons in league history.

Allegiant Stadium, home of the Las Vegas Raiders, is hosting Super Bowl LVIII next year, which will be the first time the game is held in the state of Nevada.

Caesars Superdome will host Super Bowl LIX in 2025. It will be the eighth Super Bowl held at the Superdome, which is the most one venue has hosted the Super Bowl. It will also be the 11th Super Bowl held in New Orleans, which will tie the Miami area for the most Super Bowls held in one metro area.
