Linebacker Nakobe Dean ruled out with foot injury as Eagles lead Cowboys
The Philadelphia Eagles have ruled out linebacker Nakobe Dean on Sunday as they lead the Dallas Cowboys by one score in the third quarter. Dean suffered a foot injury in the first half that had him visibly upset on the sidelines. After heading to the locker room early before halftime, the linebacker was then ruled out for the remainder of the game.
Prior to his injury, Dean came up with a big sack on Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, which his alma mater celebrated on social media. He was credited with half a sack on the play, bringing his total to three tackles on the day before his early exit.
The Eagles lead the Cowboys 21-17 in what is the first of two matchups between the divisional rivals. While Dallas is 5-2, Philadelphia is 7-1 with a bye coming up. If the Eagles lose, the Cowboys have the opportunity to take possession of the NFC East with another win in Week 10.
Dean hasn’t played every game for the Eagles this season. He had another foot injury earlier in the year that had him on Injured Reserve. In the four other games he’s appeared in this season, he has 26 tackles, including two tackles for loss. That was good for sixth on the Eagles’ defense, despite his absences.

Dallas Goedert heads to locker room vs Cowboys
After the Eagles ruled out Nakobe Dean, tight end Dallas Goedert also exited the game for some further evaluation in the locker room. He had three catches, gashing to Cowboys defense for 50 yards before he went down hard from a tackle.
The biggest question facing the Cowboys on Sunday was the status of starting left tackle Tyron Smith. Mike McCarthy teased his return to practice after his neck stinger but through Saturday, he wasn’t able to fully practice. Smith’s backup, former free agent addition Chuma Edoga, was also questionable on Saturday’s injury report due to an ankle sprain he suffered against the Rams. However, both offensive linemen were active and available for the game against the Eagles.
Meanwhile, the Eagles went ahead and ruled out four injured players ahead of Sunday’s game. TE Grant Calcaterra, G Cam Jurgens, CB Bradley Roby and RB Boston Scott were all out for Sunday. DT Moro Ojomo and DE Derek Barnett were also inactive.
