Detroit Lions (8-1) linebacker James Houston was trending Sunday night… for all of the wrong reasons.

In the second quarter of the 26-23 Week 10 road victory over the Houston Texans (6-4), Houston was part of a group of defenders which helped stop running back Joe Mixon for a loss of three yards. Those watching on NBC couldn’t help but notice a dark spot on Houston’s white pants just below his tailbone area.

Let’s just say it looked as if Houston could have used some Charmin.

James Houston clears the air on pants stain

After the game, Houston went into clean up mode. He denied having an accident, stating it was simply a Gatorade stain.

“Ay yall I had sat on some Gatorade just chill,” Houston wrote on X.

Gatorade stain and all, Houston had arguably his best game of the season against Houston. He recorded his first sack of the season, the ninth of his career. His first eight sacks came during his rookie campaign in 2022.

“After being out for a year and it’s been almost two seasons since I’ve had a sack, I think it will definitely help build some confidence,” Houston said, via John Maakaron of Sports Illustrated.

Houston missed 15 games in 2023 due to a leg injury he sustained in Week 2. The 25-year-old is seeing more playing time with Aidan Hutchinson and Marcus Davenport sidelined with injuries.

“It just feels like home,” Houston said, via Detroit Football Network. “I needed to get back to that feeling.”
