The combined practice between the New York Giants and Detroit Lions has been feisty all afternoon on Monday, with multiple fights breaking out in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

However, the most impactful hit happened on the field during a run play from the Giants. Star offensive lineman Andrew Thomas built up a head of steam, and Lions rookie defensive back Terrion Arnold was in his path. That’s when the freight train collided with Arnold, as Thomas laid the boom on the block.

While Arnold stayed up for a bit after the collision, FOX’s Ralph Vacchiano noted that the former Alabama star headed for the locker room for evaluation afterwards. Check out the video of the moment below.

Evidently, Thomas has been waiting to hit someone like that all summer, and he took out some rage on Arnold. Adding another layer to the collision is the fact that Thomas went to Georgia, and Arnold made a name for himself with the Crimson Tide. A little SEC beef between the two, perhaps.

Regardless, Terrion Arnold has a bright future in the NFL, but he might be well served to try to avoid hits like the one Andrew Thomas delivered on Monday. The Lions are expecting big things, and he’ll need to be on the field to deliver.

Meanwhile, Terrion Arnold has said all the right things since being drafted by the Detroit Lions, and it’s evident he’s a versatile player entering his rookie season.

The former Alabama Crimson Tide defender can lineup anywhere in the secondary, but it’s evident he’s not limiting himself. It was a tongue-in-cheek moment, but Arnold let reporters know he’ll do whatever he can for the Lions, even if that means lining up along the defensive line for Detroit.

“I’m more comfortable anywhere,” Arnold said, regarding whether he prefers to cover the left or right side of the field. “I don’t consider myself a cornerback. I consider myself a defensive player. I can play anywhere on the field. I can even line up at nose guard, if I’ve got to lineu p there.

“But I mean, playing football, it’s something I’ve been doing as a kid. Like, I keep saying the same, but I’m happy to be out here. I really am.”

We’re not doubting Arnold’s abilities on the field, but it’s a sure bet he won’t line up across from the center, unless Dan Campbell skips coaching for a week. Nevertheless, the Lions will be happy to keep him on the field as much as he’d like to be.
