Lions WR Jameson Williams facing suspension for performance-enhancing substances
Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams is on the verge of being suspended by the NFL. According to Eric Woodyard of ESPN, Williams is facing a two-game suspension for violating the NFL’s performance-enhancing substance policy.
Williams told ESPN that he’s disappointed with the suspension but says he has “no choice but to take it on the chin.” He added, “I’m in good spirits just ready to get back with my brothers ASAP soon as possible.”
This is a big blow to the Lions who are coming off a 31-29 victory over the Minnesota Vikings. Williams only had one catch in Sunday’s game but has put together a strong start to the 2024, season, catching 17 passes for 361 yards and three touchdowns.
This is not the first time the NFL has suspended Williams. In April 2023, the league suspended Williams and three other Lions players for violating the gambling policy. Williams was suspended for six games due to mobile betting on a college football game that occurred at a hotel room during a league road trip. His suspension was lifted after only four games.

Jameson Williams reacts to being suspended in 2023
“Yeah, for sure. I’m not mad,” Williams told ESPN at the time. “I’m excited I get to play football and get back to it. I expected it to be longer, but thank God we’re here ’til this day and s***, we’re good.”
Williams added: “It’s rules you’ve got to follow and that’s really just the main thing. It’s rules you’ve got to follow. “If it’s rule set, you’ve got to follow them. That’s it.”
Williams, who was an All-American player at Alabama in 2021, was selected by the Lions in the first round (No. 12 overall) in the 2022 NFL Draft. He only played in six games during his rookie season due to a torn ACL he suffered while in college. Williams played in 12 games last year and caught 24 passes for 354 yards and two touchdowns.
