Lions WR Jameson Williams fined for TD celebration vs. Seahawks
The NFL fined Lions superstar Jameson Williams $14,069 for unsportsmanlike conduct for dunking over the crossbar after his long touchdown last week. It happened after Williams scored an electrifying touchdown in the Lions win over the Seahawks. Tom Pelissero of NFL Network relayed the news on Saturday afternoon.
The electrifying wideout can burn just about any corner in the league in the blink of an eye. He showcased that a few weeks ago on Sunday Night Football against the LA Rams, when he absolutely torched Rams corner Tre’Davious White on a 52-yard touchdown bomb from Jared Goff.
Against the Seahawks, Williams hauled in two catches for 80 yards and a touchdown (video above).
It’s just a small sample of what the Lions hope Williams can become in the NFL. This is his third year in the league, but he’s dealt with injury issues and a gambling suspension he had to deal with in 2023. He’s poised for a breakout year in 2024, and the Lions coaches have been saying that all offseason. Many members of the national media and fans of the league also have Williams penciled in for a massive season this year.
The tools and the skills are clearly there. He’s got the coaches (offensive coordinator Ben Johnson) and the quarterback to make great things happen. All Williams needs to do is stay on the field.

Alabama LB announces plan to transfer
Last season for the Lions, his postseason presence was certainly felt, mainly in the NFC Championship game. Williams had two touchdowns against the San Francisco 49ers. One came through the air while Williams got the scoring started on a reverse, snagging a 42-yard rushing touchdown.
Getting a full offseason under his belt, Detroit is hoping for more explosive plays out of Williams. After all, they did use the No. 12 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft to acquire him. And that was not too far removed from an ACL tear suffered in early January. The tape coming out of his lone season at Alabama was incredible, as he finished as a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award, given to the nation’s best receiver.
