Livvy Dunne gets custom Paul Skenes boots to celebrate Pirates' season finale
Livvy Dunne celebrated Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Paul Skenes‘ final game of the 2024 season by wearing custom boots. On Saturday, the LSU gymnast was seen wearing boots that included the Pirates colors and Skenes’ jersey number. According to TMZ Sports, Jessica Martini made the boots by hand.
Martini told the outlet she recently came up with the idea after leaving her tech consulting job and making custom boots for the wives of MLB stars Aaron Nola and Will Smith earlier this year. The artist reached out to Dunne to see if she wanted her own to cheer on her boyfriend. Martini said it took 20 hours to make the boots.
“I just want people to fall in love with this design,” she told TMZ Sports “and I want to be able to provide this design to everyone that’s reached out to me.”
Dunne wore the boots as Skenes pitched two shutout innings against the New York Yankees. Skenes will likely win NL Rookie of the Year as he posted an 11-3 record with a 1.96 ERA and 170 strikeouts in 133 innings pitched this season. Unfortunately, Skenes won’t pitch in the postseason as the Pirates finished last in the NL Central.
Livvy Dunne and Paul Skenes talk about their relationship
When Skenses made his MLB Debut in May, Dunne talked about how watching him pitch can be stressful. “I always say it’s way harder to be the person in the stands, because I’m not in control. I don’t know how to throw a 100-mile-an-hour fastball,” Dunne said, per MLB.com. “It’s hard to have no control, especially with gymnastics when you’re watching. But I know he’s just got this, and I have a lot of confidence in him.”

Dunne also talked about the support Pirates fans showed Skenes. “It’s amazing, the support here is awesome. Pittsburgh has been so welcoming,” Dunne stated. “Just the people wearing Air Force stuff [Skenes’ first college before transferring to LSU], LSU stuff, wearing Skenes jerseys; the support here is unreal, and I love it.”
Dunne and Skenes began dating last year while they were both attending LSU. In August of 2023, Skenes confirmed their relationship in an interview with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
“It can be a pain in the butt sometimes, to be honest, in terms of actually going somewhere,” Skenses said about dating Dunne while being in the public eye. “If one of us went out in Baton Rouge [La.] by ourselves, there’s probably gonna be someone there asking for something — picture, autograph, whatever.”
