Paul Skenes won National League Rookie of the Year on Tuesday, celebrating the moment with his girlfriend, Livvy Dunne. The two were shown on MLB Network after Skenes was announced the winner, seemingly having a party somewhere.

Dunne posted a few photos of the event, with most of them involving Skenes. However, a cookie cake was shown off with “Rookie & a cookie” being spelled out. The final photo does show Skenes holding a dog but not Dunne’s, Roux. Raising Cane’s owner Todd Graves and his wife, Gwen, made an appearance as well.

The post was captioned “That was cool” playing on the reaction Skenes gave after hearing the news. You can check the whole thing out from Dunne’s Instagram post here.

On Tuesday, the MLB X account posted a video, asking Dunne about her favorite moment from Skenes’ rookie season. She chose his second-ever start as he faced the Chicago Cubs. Six innings, no hits, one walk, and 11 strikeouts is quite the stat line.

“My favorite moment from Paul’s rookie season was when he pitched the first time at Wrigley Field,” Dunne said. “I wasn’t there but I was screaming at my phone, jumping up and down. I was so excited, he did amazing.”

Not too long ago, Skenes was making starts in Baton Rouge inside Alex Box Stadium. LSU won the national championship in June and a few weeks later, the Pirates selected the righty with the No. 1 overall pick.

Less than a year later, he was up in the Majors and dominating opposing batters. His rise through the Minors impressed Dunne, to say the least.

“Watching Paul’s season was like, honestly, watching a unicorn,” Dunne said. “It was like a fairy tale. The thing that impressed me the most was how quickly he went to through the minor leagues and went to the big leagues and dominated. It was so admirable.”

Skenes will be back for the 2025 season, hoping to build off his rookie success. Dunne will be there for the journey too, attending Pirates games whenever he is on the mound.
