The NFL Wild Card Round is over, and the Divisional Round gets underway this weekend with eight teams left standing. One of those matchups features the Los Angeles Rams and Philadelphia Eagles going head-to-head with a spot in the NFC Championship Game up for grabs.

Both teams were dominant in the Wild Card Round, the Rams picking up a 27-9 victory over the Minnesota Vikings. The Eagles, meanwhile, defeated the Green Bay Packers, 22-10. Philadelphia heads into this matchup a heavy favorite over Los Angeles.

Clearly, oddsmakers are expecting these two defenses to take over, as they did in the Wild Card Round. The Rams allowed the Vikings to get into the end zone once, overwhelming quarterback Sam Darnold throughout the game. Darnold was sacked nine times, and Minnesota’s offense compiled just 269 total yards.

“I thought [defensive coordinator] Chris [Shula] and the defensive coaches did an excellent job of creating an understanding of the intent, why we’re doing it, and then being able to get it done, get to them at the right times, and then the execution to come to life, there’s nothing better than that,” head coach Sean McVay said.

The Eagles’ No. 1 ranked defense had a fine performance themselves in the win over the Packers. Philadelphia forced four turnovers, with quarterback Jordan Love throwing three interceptions. But while the Rams were able to move the ball on offense, the Eagles struggled. Head coach Nick Sirianni knows the offense and quarterback Jalen Hurts have to be much better this time around.

“I don’t think we had the game we wanted to have on offense,” Sirianni said. “Jalen did a lot of good things. Jalen is a winner. He wins. No one can argue that.”
