Jalen Hurts has proven himself as one of the better quarterbacks in the NFL today, leading the Philadelphia Eagles to the Super Bowl last season. Now, he’s looking to take the next step and one person who thinks he’s more than capable of doing that is Louis Riddick.

During an appearance on Get Up, Riddick said that he expects Hurts to rise to the level of greatness of NFL quarterbacks like Tom Brady, Drew Brees, and Peyton Manning.

“Look, you can always continue to improve the speed by which you play the game mentally,” Louis Riddick said. “And once you’re able to get to a certain point where you’re getting up to the line of scrimmage and some of the very best quarterbacks have been known to do and have been captured on film doing, you’re basically telling defenders and safeties in particular, ‘Hey, walk on down here into the box. I know you’re coming. I already know what you’re gonna do by the down and the distance, I already know by the way your feet are set, by what you look when you broke the huddle — I’m already that far ahead of you and I’m already playing chess when you’re still playing checkers, man.'”

If Hurts does reach that level, then he’ll be a first-ballot Hall of Fame quarterback. However, he does have a long way to go before he gets there. However, if he can get that mental side down, he could be very difficult to stop.

“That’s the next phase for a guy like Jalen Hurts. Because what that’s going to translate to is not only can I beat you with pure athletic ability. I can beat you because I’m already in your head. I’m already a step ahead,” Riddick said. “And that comes with years and years and years, and I think that’s what Jeff was referring to. That’s where Brady and Brees and Manning and them got to, and Jalen Hurts can absolutely get there.”

Last season, Hurts finished second in MVP voting and made his first Pro Bowl. He was also under 25 years old and has time to improve in all phases of the game.

“And that’s absolutely where I’m sure he’s putting most of his attention right now, which is ‘I’m going to beat you cerebrally even before I turn loose this speed and this strength on you from a pure athletic perspective. And that’s when you become the ultimate weapon.”

Jalen Hurts finds a thrill in never being satisfied

Jalen Hurts is never satisfied with his performance. It’s a thought process that he finds thrilling.

“Everybody aspires to be the best and works to be the best, but ultimately you have to find some separation. And that’s the thrill. There’s a thrill in not being satisfied and there’s a thrill in being on this journey, and I have embraced that,” Hurts said.

“I love this game and I know my purpose within this game. I truly just want to be intentional. … So every day I just try to be the best that I can be and that is not based off of external factors. Those things don’t matter. You just try and control what you can.”
