San Francisco 49ers select LSU running back Tyrion Davis-Price in 2022 NFL Draft
Tyrion Davis-Price led LSU in rushing in 2021. Now, the former Tigers standout is taking his talents to the NFL.
The San Francisco 49ers selected Davis-Price in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He was a 1,000-yard rusher for LSU in 2021 to cap off a three-year career that started at the 2020 national championship.
Davis-Price took 211 carries for 1,003 yards and six touchdowns for the Tigers this past season. His biggest game of the year came against Florida when he rushed for 284 yards and three touchdowns to lead LSU to a 49-42 victory. He burst onto the scene as the Tigers’ lead back, and it led to some draft looks. Now, he’s heading to the league, foregoing his senior year to do so.
Out of high school, Davis-Price was a four-star recruit and the No. 8 running back prospect from the Class of 2019, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

What NFL Draft analysts are saying about Tyrion Davis-Price
NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein offered his thoughts on Davis-Price after his breakout junior season. Zierlein noted Davis-Price’s size makes him that much more of an intriguing pickup.
“Big, athletic back offering an enticing blend of size and explosiveness to go with an SEC pedigree,” Zierlein wrote. “Davis-Price’s early season tape was listless and lacking pro quality, but that changed over the second half of the year. He’s an enigmatic back featuring urgency, indecisiveness, physicality and finesse on any given carry.
“He got much better as the season progressed and clearly finds a rhythm when given volume carries. Scouts say that staying motivated will be a major factor in future success. Davis-Price’s athletic ability and hammerhead finishes will help him create yardage. He has the size and upside worthy of consideration in the middle rounds.”
