Luka Doncic, Jordan Brand debut new shoes, Lakers-themed car vs. Mavericks

The eyes of the NBA world turned to Los Angeles Tuesday night for one of the most anticipated games of the season. It marked the first time Luka Doncic faced the Dallas Mavericks as a member of the Lakers – and Jordan Brand helped him get ready.
Doncic arrived in style, showing up to the game at Cyrpto.com Arena in a Lakers-themed car. The license plate had his No. 77 on it, and the Jordan logo was prominent on the hood of the purple and black Koenigsegg.
It’s the same car featured in Jordan Brand’s new ad promoting Doncic’s Lakers debut. That video included a man changing the license plate from Texas to California – all while George Strait’s “All My Exes Live in Texas” plays in the background. A tagline waits at the end: “Full Tank. No Mercy.”
Doncic also showcased a new version of his Jordan Brand shoes Tuesday night. The Luka 4 made their debut at Crypto.com Arena as Doncic’s partnership with the company continues to evolve. The shoes feature an electric green colorway and the Lakers star’s 77 logo on the tongue.
Jordan Brand hasn’t yet announced an official release date for the Luka 4. However, they’re expected to come out over the summer.

The Mavericks’ decision to trade Doncic sent a shockwave across the NBA as the Mavericks sent him to the Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis and Max Christie, while the Utah Jazz received Jalen Hood-Schifino and two 2025 second-round picks to help facilitate the move. Some wondered if ESPN’s Shams Charania was hacked after first posting the news on X, but the other insiders quickly confirmed it was in the works.
Tuesday night marked the first time Doncic got to go head-to-head against his now-former team. In addition to his Koenigsegg and new Jordan Brand shoes, he also collaborated with the company to buy out a parking lot so fans could park for free to attend the game.
The emotions were high, and Doncic put on a show in the first half of the matchup. He totaled 12 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists to help the Lakers take a 59-51 lead into halftime. Doncic clearly had a chip on his shoulder, which was expected coming in, and Lakers head coach J.J. Redick expected him to put on a show as a result.
“With him, he’s at his best when he has that balance of joy and playfulness and that killer mentality,” Redick said, via the Dallas Morning News’ Mike Curtis. “Just perfectly living in the moment of competition.”
