Luka Doncic is already investing himself into the community of Los Angeles.
Per a release from his foundation, Doncic will be donating $500,000 to victims of the wildfires last month across LA. It also came with a commitment to help the city continue to rebuild following the natural disasters.
“It’s been so sad to see and learn more about the damage from the wildfires since I landed in LA. I can’t believe it and I feel for all the kids who lost their homes, schools and places where they used to play with their friends,” wrote Doncic. “Today, my foundation is donating $500,000 to immediate recovery efforts. I am also committed to helping rebuild courts, playgrounds and fields that were destroyed, because every kid needs a safe place to play.”
“To everyone affected by these fires: we’re here to help, now and for the long haul,” Doncic signed as their new neighbor.
This comes within days of the Dallas Mavericks trading Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers in an unbelievable deal at the deadline in the NBA. He came to the Lakers in an exchange that he highlighted with Anthony Davis going to the Mavs.

This also comes hours ahead of Doncic’s expected debut with the team when they take the floor tonight against the Utah Jazz. He didn’t play in any of their three games last week following the trade as he was still completing his rehab from a calf injury.
In his 22 appearances this season, Doncic is averaging 28.1 points, 8.3 rebounds, 7.8 assists, and a pair of steals. Those are right in line with the stats from over his seven-year career in the association that has seen him be a five-time selection on the All-NBA First Team as well as the All-Star Team.
Doncic became the newest star in Los Angeles over this last week. He’s getting right to it in the City of Angels as well with this gesture to those still in need of it.
