Mac McClung makes history with third straight NBA slam dunk contest win at All-Star weekend

Mac McClung has claimed the 2025 NBA slam dunk contest at All-Star weekend on Saturday. It marks his third straight victory in the dunk contest, making him the first player in league history to achieve a threepeat in the event.
McClung’s first dunk earned him 50s across the board from all judges for a perfect score as he separated himself form the competition from the start. He brought in a car and jumped over it for a reverse jam that brought the house down and was easily the best of any of the four contestants.
He followed that up with a 180 dunk that also earned a perfect score and easily coast to the second round. You can view his first dunk from round one below.
For his third dunk, McClung put to balls through the hoop before a big finale for his fourth where he tapped the ball on the rim before dunking it. Both earned him 50s as he ran away with the win.
McClung also won NBA slam dunk contests in 2023 and 2024. He currently plays for the Orlando Magic on a two-way contract, also playing for the Osceola Magic of the NBA G-League.

McClung has appeared in just one NBA game this season, playing five minutes for Orlando on Oct. 26, recording two assists and one rebound. He has played 15 games for Osceola and is averaging 24.5 points, 6.1 assists and 4.4 rebounds per game.
With this historic victory, perhaps the Magic will look seriously at giving McClung a chance to play in more games moving forward.
McClung was undrafted out of Texas Tech in the 2021 NBA Draft and has since played for a variety of teams, including the Philadelphia 76ers last year before joining the Magic. However, despite his clear athleticism and skill when it comes to dunking, he hasn’t been able to translate that into meaningful minutes.
Regardless, he’ll always have this piece of history to his name and he certainly put on a show for the crowd Saturday.
