Titans make major roster move with their injured running back
Tennessee Titans All-Pro running back Derrick Henry will be placed on injured reserve. It is a move that is not surprising at all in the wake of his potential season-ending injury.
Henry broke a bone in his foot early in the Titans’ 34-31 victory against AFC South rival Indianapolis Colts. The former Alabama running back did not leave the game and played through the injury. He finished with his second-lowest rushing total with 68 yards and was in on 50 of Tennessee’s 68 offensive snaps.
Given the news of his injury after the game, it is understandable why Henry did not look like his usual self running the ball Sunday.
With the win, the Titans take a commanding lead over first place in the AFC South division. But this victory is bittersweet with the loss of Henry, the team’s workhorse and arguably most valuable offensive weapon. Through the first eight games, Henry is leading the NFL in carries (219), rushing yards (937), and touchdowns (10).
Vrabel in Henry’s chances to play again this season
After ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported early Monday morning the Henry had suffered a potentially season-ending foot injury in Sunday’s win over the Indianapolis Colts, Titans’ head coach Mike Vrabel shared Henry’s official status with reporters later in the day.

Although Vrabel didn’t say that Henry would be out for the remainder of the season, the coach did announce that his star running back will have surgery Tuesday morning, meaning that he’ll certainly miss some time.
“There is a belief that Henry will be back this season,” NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport said. “The timeline, and it’s tough to know because every individual’s surgery is different and every injury is different, but the timeline is about 6-10 weeks. Eight-10 is probably the average, but if they really push it, six is possible.”
Titans are bringing in an NFL legend
Tennessee has signed veteran running back Adrian Peterson to help soften Henry’s loss.
After revealing Henry’s injury status, reports came out that the Titans brought in Peterson for a workout. Now, the two sides have agreed to a deal. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Peterson will be joining the Titans, although he won’t initially join the active roster.
“Adrian Peterson is initially signing to the Titans’ practice squad with the expectation he will be added to the active roster, per source,” Schefter tweeted.
