Free agent guard Malik Beasley has reached an agreement on a one-year deal with the Milwaukee Bucks, per Shams Charania of The Athletic. It will mark the fifth team he has played for as he gets set to enter the eighth season of his NBA career.

Beasley began this past season on the Utah Jazz before being traded to the Los Angeles Lakers near the NBA’s trade deadline. He went on to appear in 26 games with 14 starts in LA, averaging 11.1 points per game while shooting 35.3% from 3-point range. However, he fell out of the rotation during the Lakers’ run to the Western Conference Finals.

Beasley began his career with the Denver Nuggets after being selected 19th overall out of Florida State in 2016. He played three-and-a-half seasons in Denver before being traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 2019-20 season. Two years later in 2021-22, Beasley broke the franchise record for most 3-pointers made in a season with 240.

Known as a sharpshooter, Beasley averages 37.8% from beyond the arc for his career. That is something he’ll hope to add to a Milwaukee team that last season ranked 10th as a team with a 3-point shooting percentage of 36.8%.

Coming out of high school, Beasley was the No. 33 overall recruit in the 2015 class according to the On3 Industry Rating, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He played just one season at Florida State before jumping to the NBA, averaging 15.6 points and 5.3 rebounds while being named to the ACC’s All-Freshman team.

Beasley joins a Bucks team coming off of a 58-24 season that saw them earn the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference. However, they were upset in the first round by the eight-seeded Miami Heat, which beat them in five games on a run to the NBA Finals.

Milwaukee recently signed Khris Middleton and Brook Lopez to new deals as well. The Bucks also bring back Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jrue Holiday to keep most of their core from this past season.

Now by adding Beasley they have another 3-point threat to work alongside Grayson Allen and Pat Connaughton off the bench. Milwaukee should once again be a contender to make the NBA Finals this upcoming season after winning the championship two years ago during the 2020-21 season.

The Bucks enter this year with a new coach in Adrian Griffin after parting ways with Mike Budenholzer.
