Early in the fourth quarter of the Giants’ showdown against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, New York wide receiver Malik Nabers left the game after suffering an apparent head injury. Nabers immediately entered the injury tent after being helped off the field.

According to the broadcast, Nabers received an evaluation for a concussion. However, Nabers re-entered the game on the final play of the drive after the team’s trainers concluded he was OK to continue playing.

As of this report, Nabers has three catches for 31 yards and the Giants trail the Panthers 17-14. It’s been a relatively quiet day for Nabers, who has had a standout debut campaign thus far.

Nabers entered the game on Sunday with 55 catches for 557 yards and three touchdowns. Nabers’ 557 yards were the third-most among all rookies through the first nine weeks of the season, only trailing Brian Thomas Jr. and Brock Bowers.

Malik Nabers isn’t allowing his excellent start to his NFL career cause him to lose focus.

“I’m a humble person. So, when they tell me I’m a great player or something like that I take it with honor,” Nabers said. “There’s only gratitude to what I’ve been doing when I’m out there on the field. So, I take it highly.

“I know I’ve been doing the right things out there on the field, but I still feel like I’ve got a lot left that needs to be handled. I’m not where I want to be right now, so to receive that gratitude is a pat on the back. But I’m not finished, I never even got started.”

Nabers spent three seasons at LSU before the Giants selected him with the No. 6 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Nabers finished his collegiate career as LSU’s all-time leader in receiving yards.

For his efforts in the 2023 campaign, he was named a unanimous All-American and a First-Team All-SEC member. Following in the footsteps of LSU wide receivers such as Justin Jefferson and Ja’Marr Chase, Nabers is only the latest Tiger talent.

“That’s just the standard,” Nabers said. “They came from LSU and I came from LSU, so that’s just the standard of wide receivers. They set the bar pretty high, so it’s only right that we follow that up.”
