Malik Nabers injury update: Giants reveal WR's status for Week 7 vs. Eagles
New York Giants (2-4) rookie receiver Malik Nabers is off the injury report and will play in Sunday’s Week 7 home game against the Philadelphia Eagles (3-2).
Nabers, the No. 6 overall pick out of LSU, has been sidelined for the past two games with a concussion he sustained in Week 4 against the Dallas Cowboys (3-3). He cleared concussion protocol Thursday, paving the way for his return to game action.
Head coach Brian Daboll said earlier this week he was “optimistic” about Nabers returning against Philadelphia.
“Malik has made progress,” Daboll said, via the team’s website. “Good progress where he’s able to come out here today and practice. He’ll have a red jersey on, but he passed some of the steps that he needed to do. He’s better, which is a good thing. So, we’ll see. We’ll go through today. I’m optimistic, but I’m not going to push anything. That type of injury you want to be smart with. But he is doing much better, and it’ll be good to have him out here at practice today.”

Giants welcome the return of Malik Nabers to the starting lineup
Prior to the injury, Nabers looked like the favorite to win the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year. In four games, Nabers hauled in 35 receptions for 386 yards and three touchdowns. The Giants have scored just 27 points in the last two games without Nabers in the lineup.
New York has seen Wan’Dale Robinson and Darius Slayton step up in Nabers’ absence, but it’s clear the offense won’t perform to its fullest capacity without the 21-year-old catching passes. Nabers has averaged 13 targets per game when he’s been on the field.
“There’s no doubt he’s been a big part of our offense so far,” quarterback Daniel Jones said. “And someone who we’ve counted on in a lot of spots.”
