WATCH: Maria Taylor trolls Daron Payne, Jonathan Allen with Georgia-themed Christmas gift
Georgia has gotten the better of Alabama recently, and NBC’s Maria Taylor made sure former Crimson Tide players Daron Payne and Jonathan Allen were aware of that in a recent interview for NBC’s Sunday Night Football.
With Christmas just a week away, Taylor, who is a Georgia alumnae, got in the holiday spirit by preparing a couple of presents for the two Washington Commanders teammates. After a nearly 15-minute interview, Taylor asked the players about some of the best Christmas gifts they’ve given before revealing she had some for them.
“It better not be something Georgia related,” Allen quipped.
However, Allen’s feeling ended up being right on the nose, as the two opened their present to reveal a couple of mini Bulldogs helmets.
“I already knew,” Allen said. “It’s too easy.”
Taylor didn’t let up after that however, making sure to mention that Alabama is not in the College Football Playoff, suggesting Payne and Allen root for Georgia.

“I don’t know about that one,” Payne said. “Dang, I was really thinking about getting you something, too.”
Of course, Georgia defeated Alabama last season in the national championship, though the teams did not meet this season. But while Bulldogs fans have bragging rights now now, Allen made sure to remind her of who has historically been better, with the Crimson Tide leading the all-time series 42-26-4.
“Even a broken clock is right twice a day,” he said.
Neither Daron Payne nor Jonathan Allen lost to Georgia in their college careers, with Alabama even defeating the Bulldogs in the national championship during Payne’s final college season. However, with the way things have gone lately, it’s hard to blame Taylor for wanting to get a jab in while the time is still right.
