Mark Cuban claps back at former Mavericks employee for saying he should be 'run out of Dallas'

Mark Cuban is biting back after a former Dallas Mavericks employee took a shot at him last week on social media. Former Mavericks event manager Gavin Mulloy took to Facebook on March 21 to express his displeasure over the recent Luka Doncic trade and Cuban’s supposed involvement.
Mulloy said in his post that Cuban should be “run out of Dallas” despite the fact that Cuban is no longer the majority owner after selling the team in 2023. Cuban not only saw the post from his former employee, but responded with a dig of his own regarding the bonus that Mulloy was allegedly paid as a result of the Mavericks being sold.
“How much of a bonus did you get when I sold?” he wrote.
Mulloy didn’t back down from his original claim, however. Instead, he leaned into what Cuban said and suggested that both would take the decision back if they could.
“Not enough to make up for the Luka trade,” Mulloy wrote. “I’d give your dirty money back for Luka to be here, how about you?”
That second message set Cuban off on another level. He came after Mulloy for only voicing his opinion now, as opposed to when the sale happened, also pointing out that his was one of the many salaries that Cuban paid for while the owner of the team.
“You didn’t say a word when it showed up in your account. Did you?” Cuban asked. “Sure looked good when we made it to the Finals, didn’t it? I did every damn thing I could for 23 years. Kept prices lower than not only any NBA team, but lower than college teams too. I had $2 tickets for multiple years.
“When I sold there were always 4k tickets under $29. I made money 2 out of 23 years that I was majority owner. Lost hundreds of millions of dollars. And you kept collecting your salary. So my dirty dollars didn’t get a peep out of you those 23 years. Or when you got your check every two years. Or when you got your bonus.”
Dallas had many successful seasons under Cuban, including winning the NBA title in 2011. The Mavericks made the playoffs in 18 of the 23 years that he was the owner.

Mulloy’s attack on Cuban also doesn’t make much sense considering it was not the latter’s decision to trade Doncic. In fact, he even voiced his displeasure over the move, saying Dallas should have gotten “a better deal” if it was even considering trading the young superstar.
Mark Cuban took it a step further in his reply to Mulloy by saying that he made the right decision to sell the Mavericks. The backlash that not only the current ownership group and GM Nico Harrison have received, but that Cuban has faced as well is proof enough of that to him.
“Go back to what I said when I sold the team,” Cuban said. “I didn’t want my kids and family to have to deal with people like you. I honestly got tired of the growing number of fans who became pricks on social media. People exactly like you.
“I paid your salary. I paid you a bonus. I didn’t have to give to you. The Nico and the new owners do something none of us like and you decide to try to f*ck with me. Thank you for confirming I made the right decision.”
The Mavericks are just 14-15 since trading Doncic on Feb. 1, but have dealt with injuries to several stars including Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving. Cuban might not have played a role, but it’s clear the outrage from the deal isn’t going away any time soon.
