Boston is known as a tough town and if anybody even thinks of messing with New England Patriots rookie quarterback Drake Maye, well, Mark Wahlberg is here to set them straight.

Wahlberg, actor and Boston native, appeared in the latest Fanatics ad highlighting the 2024 NFL rookie class, and said that if “anybody f**** with you, call me.” In other words, Wahlberg will turn into Micky Ward from “The Fighter” and you’ll regret it.

“You need anything, call me,” Wahlberg said. “Anybody f**** with you, call me.”

Of course, this is all in good fun, and a cool thing organized by Fanatics. Along with Wahlberg giving a message to Maye, Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams is seen getting words of support from actor Ashton Kutcher, and Washington Commanders signal caller Jayden Daniels gets a friendly message from Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant.

Maye is the quarterback of the future in New England indeed, but what about now? That’s the big question in Foxboro, as New England brought in veteran signal caller Jacoby Brissett in free agency. A scenario does exist where Brissett gets the keys to the offense to start the season before Maye eventually takes over.

Maye began spring practices working behind Brissett and Bailey Zappe but had passed Zappe on the depth chart by the end of the offseason program. With training camp underway, head coach Jerod Mayo declared Brissett the starting quarterback for now, but left the door open for Maye depending on how he performs.

“Look, if Drake — and this goes to any position — if he comes out here and he lights it up. Once again, it goes back to quality of reps. It could absolutely happen. Like, I sit here and tell you coming out of the spring, Jacoby looks like the starting quarterback. Now, with that being said, he’ll have competition. Let’s not forget about even Joe Milton. Let’s not forget about Zappe,” Mayo said last week, via the Boston Herald. “All of those guys will have opportunities to go out there and be the starting quarterback.”
