Marshawn Lynch certainly knows how to make press conferences interesting, and that was the case Monday. The former running back was in the crowd as his former coach, Pete Carroll, was introduced as the next head man of the Las Vegas Raiders.

While Carroll was in the middle of answering a question, a loud voice interrupted to let out a “RAIDERS!” scream that filled the entire room. It turned out to be none other than Lynch as Carroll laughed the moment off.

“That’s right, there you go,” the coach said. “That’s what I’m talking about.”

Carroll was previously the coach of the Seattle Seahawks for 14 seasons from 2010-23. He led the team to a Super Bowl victory in the 2013 season and followed that up by finishing runner up in 2014.

Lynch played for Carroll for six seasons, including the Super Bowl-winning year. He also played two seasons for the Raiders in 2017 and 2018 after leaving Seattle.

Lynch had some of the best years of his career under Carroll and led the NFL in rushing touchdowns in both 2013 (12) and 2014 (13). He also surpassed the 1,000-yard mark every year from 2011-14 but unfortunately suffered an injury and played only seven games in 2015 before leaving the team.

The running back attended a few Raiders games this past season, and with Carroll now as the coach it appears he could spend even more time around the team. Either way, he provided a hilarious moment to kick off the coach’s tenure in Las Vegas.

Marshawn Lynch considering run for Oakland mayor

In a surprising turn of events, Lynch might be considering running for mayor of the city of Oakland. He mentioned the possibility of making the jump into running for public office on Thursday via his podcast that he does with Gavin Newsom and Doug Hendrickson.

The title of the podcast is “Politickin’ with Gavin Newsom, Marshawn Lynch, and Doug Hedrickson.” The episode of the podcast is named, “Mayor Beastmode”. In the episode, Gavin Newsom essentially breaks down the pollster data and explains to Lynch he is very popular among Oakland residents.

Mayor Sheng Thao was removed from office in November after being embroiled in a scandal following an FBI raid of her home this summer. It was part of an investigation into alleged public corruption involving California Waste Solutions, a private company that handles trash and recycling pickup in Oakland.

Lynch didn’t exactly commit to running for mayor on the podcast episode, but he didn’t exactly shoot the idea down, either. “We don’t want to jump the gun just yet, from what I was told,” Lynch said. “I gotta good internal team, you know, and I want to make sure I take this off-line with my internal team and make sure this is something that we really wanna do.”

Lynch, 38 years old, has zero experience in politics. The former Cal Golden Bear running back does have a strong presence in Oakland though. He’s from the city and attended high school at Oakland Technical High School. Lynch is very involved with the Fam 1st Family Foundation–a charity he co-founded with former NFL veterans Josh Johnson and Marcus Peters.
