Martin Truex Jr. extremely critical of his car at Pocono Raceway: ‘F***ing junk’

Martin Truex Jr. did not hold back his thoughts when talking about his car at the NASCAR Cup Series race at Pocono Raceway. While competing in the race, Truex spoke to his crew about his car being slow.
“This thing is so f*cking slow on the straightaway., Truex said on the radio, per Stephen Stumpf of Frontstretch. “Junk. F*cking junk.”
After Truex said that, he earned a P8 finish at Pocono. It’s clear that he has high expectations for himself as he competes in his final full-time Cup Series season.
Truex has yet to win a race this year, but the P8 finish is his second top-10 finish in four weeks. So far this year, Truex has earned seven top-10 finishes and four top-five finishes, including a P2 finish at Bristol. Before the Pocono race, Truex was 13th in the playoff standings, the top driver in the standings who is yet to win a race.
Another thing that happened before the race is Pocono Raceway painting “Truex Jr.” at the start-finish line since he will retire after this season. “I’d say I’m ready to embrace it,” Truex told Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports. “I was actually surprised at seeing that two days ago and you know, as a driver, I’ve been around, and you just don’t ever feel like you’re deserving of things like that. For Pocono to do that, for the speedway to do that is very special. I think it means a lot to me and my family. Definitely really cool to see and hopefully we’re the first one to cross it tomorrow.”

Martin Truex Jr. shows love to Bass Pro Shops
Truex is a future Hall of Famer as he has won 34 Cup Series races, earned 288 top-10 finishes and was named one of NASCAR’s 75 best drivers. Earlier this month, the 44-year-old spoke to Dale Earnhardt Jr. on Dale Jr. Download about Bass Pro Shops having a major impact on his career.
“I definitely feel like the luckiest guy in the world to be partnered with someone like that that is just such a genuine friend and their family and just what they have meant to my career,” Truex said. “Every time I needed something or something was changing, they always stood behind me.
“I’ve told Johnny and he doesn’t really like to take too much credit for it, of course, but there’s no way I would ever won a championship I don’t think without his support. When I went to drive the NAPA car, he was fully supportive of that and the opportunity, and he still wanted to be an associate sponsor. He was on that car. And then at Funiture Row, we were struggling and Barney [Visser] was probably going to pull the plug. Johnny stepped up and sponsored that car, we won a championship.”
