Oddsmakers expect the top-ranked Ducks to soar past their competition. Oregon is a 25.5-point favorite against Maryland, according to FanDuel. The over/under for the game is set at 54.5 points.

The meeting on Saturday will be the first between the two storied programs. This fact won’t be lost on the two teams as they look to make memorable first impressions.

On Saturday, Oregon maintained its flawless record this season with a convincing 38-17 win over Michigan. In the victory, Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel completed 22-of-his-34 pass attempts for 294 yards and a touchdown without throwing an interception.

Oregon also found success in the ground game, with running back Jordan James amassing 117 rushing yards and a score on only 23 carries. Although it was a fruitful day for Oregon’s offense, it wasn’t a perfect outing.

In the first quarter, Oregon standout wide receiver Tez Johnson suffered an apparent shoulder injury and left the game. Johnson leads the team in catches and receiving yards this season, and would be a major loss for the Ducks if his injury is long-term.

Oregon head coach Dan Lanning didn’t have a substantial update on Johnson’s condition after the game but made sure to praise his team for their performance.

“I’m proud of the way our guys performed today,” Lanning said. “They came in, handled some adversity really early, and just really impressed with their composure throughout the game and the focus on the next play. We talked about how physical this team was and we knew we were going to get their best.”

As the No. 1 team in the country, Oregon is going to receive everyone’s best, including Maryland’s. Unfortunately for the Terrapins, their best wasn’t enough on Saturday as they fell 48-23 to Minnesota.

Maryland only recorded 16 fewer yards than Minnesota in the battle but committed two turnovers while the Golden Gophers committed none. Maryland head coach Mike Locksley knows his team can’t afford to make the same mistakes moving forward.

“They played hard for four quarters, just don’t always play smart and then we got to be more consistent,” Locksley said of his team.
