Longtime Packers kicker Mason Crosby released a statement on Thursday following the announcement that he will retire with Green Bay. He addressed the organization, as well as the fans who supported him for 16 years wearing green and yellow.

Crosby will rejoin he organization that drafted him in the sixth round of the 2007 NFL Draft. Having went on to help win a Super Bowl for the Packers, he will go down as one of the most successful, and longest-tenured kickers in Green Bay history. Before he rides off into retirement, he wanted to give his thanks to everyone first.

“Retiring as a Packer is my way of saying that even though I may now live in another state, I am still that ambassador,” part of the statement reads. “But now instead of you cheering me on, it is my turn to champion and celebrate what all is being accomplished in Wisconsin. You will continue to hear and see me around, doing what I can to shine the spotlight on all the amazing things that happen in the area and also helping vital groups in the community.”

Over the course of his career, Crosby went 400-492 on field goals, kicking at an 81.3% clip. He was 739-760 on extra points in his career (97.2%). Crosby helped the Packers win Super Bowl XLV during the 2010 season and went three-of-four on field goals and 16-of-16 on extra points. His best postseason came in 2014 in two games, going seven-of-seven on field goals.

Crosby’s career long on a made field goal was 58 yards. He also holds the record for most consecutive postseason field goals with 23. As a rookie, Crosby was the NFL’s scoring leader, but was actually not named a Pro Bowler throughout his career.

He finished his career with the New York Giants in 2023, kicking in three games that season. He made all seven of his attempts during that run.

“Thank you to Packers fans for all the support for 16 years,” the statement continued. “Thank you to the Packers organization for the opportunity to play the game I love. Thank you to all of my teammates over the 16 seasons. We had an incredible run and I am so grateful for the friendships former that will last a lifetime. … I could not have had the success I had on the field as a kicker without the support I had off of it. Once a Packer always a Packer!”
