As Corey Heim held off Kyle Busch with less than 10 laps to go at Pocono Raceway, the big one happened behind them. This wreck collected multiple NASCAR trucks in the top-10 and some that were contending for playoff points at this crucial point in the season.

There are only so many chances at this point in the season for NASCAR Truck Series drivers. The wreck happened after a caution flag for Nick Sanchez and Jake Garcia. Cautions trigger cautions and these Truck Series drivers just couldn’t keep it straight for the final green flag run.

Kaz Grala, Stefan Parsons, Austin Hill, Zane Smith, Ross Chastain, Lawless Alan, Stewart Friesen, and Parker Kligerman were all involved in this wreck on Lap 52 at Pocono Raceway.

This wreck put a lot of fluid on the track as cars were spun out and wrecked in the violent crash. With how many trucks that were caught up in it, it was more impressive how many of these drivers avoided disaster. Corey Heim and Kyle Busch are going to battle it out. They won’t have to worry about Zane Smith or others getting in the mix now.

Before this, Smith was the winner of Stage 1 and Stage 2. However, his day ends early as he chases Heim in the points standings. Things could not have ended worse for the defending champion in this race. While he had a good run at Pocono Raceway, he won’t be competing for the win on the final restart.

Red flag halts Truck Series race at Pocono Raceway

The Tricky Triangle is tricky for sure. So, it isn’t a surprise to see a massive wreck like this. It was a relatively clean race up until the final stage. That’s the way it usually goes though, right? Clean in the beginning, dirty by the end.

You hate to see all of those trucks torn up. That is going to be a lot of money for the teams that have to bite that bullet. This race has some Cup Series regulars in it. It isn’t just Busch and Chastain, but also Christopher Bell in the mix. Bell was a really good truck racer during his time in the series. He could be the one to steal this win away.

After a few minutes, NASCAR threw the red flag on this wreck. Too much fluid on the track and too much debris to run the caution laps. Get that chemical down, get rid of the slick spots, and let’s get back to racing at Pocono Raceway.

Honestly, this race has been better than I expected. A lot of entertainment in the early afternoon at Pocono. Let’s hope we get a great finish to go with it.
