For a second season, Matt DiBenedetto is going to drive full-time for Viking Motorsports in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. This time around, Matty D has a new car number as he takes on a tough field of drivers in 2025.

Last year, Matt DiBenedetto had some bright moments with the newly formed Viking Motorsports team, partnered at the time with RSS Racing. Top-10s at Talladega, Iowa, and Michigan showed the potential of the partnership.

Heading into 2025, Matty D is suiting up in the No. 99 car. He has a new font and it feels like the organization is coming into its own at this point. Viking is building an identity and they have a great driver to help them do that.

Check out this video that shows DiBenedetto running around, working out, and answering the call to take on this challenge.

Matt DiBenedetto has a lot of dedicated fans. He has a personality and a blue-collar attitude that seems to attract a lot of attention. It doesn’t hurt that he’s a pretty good driver, too. Let’s not forget he took Wood Brothers Racing to the playoffs. He won a race at Rackley WAR in the Truck Series.

Time and again, DiBenedetto steps up to the task. I will be very interested to see how this goes in 2025. Viking Motorsports is a new team. We know DiBenedetto has had issues staying in one place for very long. Perhaps this is a perfect fit for him now.

Matt DiBenedetto settling in at Viking Motorsports

At 33 years old, Matt DiBenedetto has a lot of racing in front of him. Taking on a second season with Viking is a big deal. Drivers and teams take time to come together and learn how everyone operates.

Those performances at Iowa and Michigan in particular were fantastic. It showed why DiBenedetto was in a Cup car only a few years ago. If the speed of this 99 car can be consistent and qualify well, then it puts it into DiBenedetto’s hands more. That’s how they succeed, leaving it up to the driver.

The only way to do that is to bring a consistent product to the race track. Of course, that is easier said than done. The team will not have a technical alliance with another organization this year and that is going to make being successful more difficult.

Matt DiBenedetto and Viking Motorsports are back together. A wily veteran in the Xfinity Series with an upstart team could be very exciting in 2025.
