Matt LaFleur may be the most under-appreciated head coach in the entire league. Since becoming the leader of the Green Bay Packers, all LaFleur done is win.

Following a victory over Sean McVay’s Los Angeles Rams, LaFleur joined elite company.

“Packers head coach Matt LaFleur is now 35-9 as an NFL head coach. He’s tied for the second fastest coach in the Super Bowl era to 35 wins, doing so in just 44 games (Chuck Knox did it in 43),” tweeted ESPN’s Field Yates. “The Packers are now 9-3 and 3.5 games up in the NFC North.”

Many have quipped about LaFleur’s accomplishments due to the fact that he’s had Aaron Rodgers as his quarterback. Still, the Packers coach’s impressive record is nothing to scoff at.

Moreover, LaFleur has led the Packers to back-to-back NFC Championship Game appearances in his time in Green Bay. Subsequently, the Packers have owned the NFC North in his tenure.

Now, Matt LaFleur looks to be on his way to coaching his squad to their third straight NFC North title. If the Packers can get to the Super Bowl this season, perhaps LaFleur will finally get the respect he deserves.

Matt LaFleur provides update on Aaron Jones, Aaron Rodgers

The Packers considered sitting running back Aaron Jones on Sunday versus the L.A. Rams. As it turns out, it was as close to a game time decision as could be. After the win, Matt LaFleur revealed that it took a pregame workout to confirm Jones would be good to go.

The Packers considered resting him through the bye week to give him extra recovery time but the former UTEP star made it clear he wanted to play.

On Sunday, Jones ran the ball 10 times for 23 total yards. His longest rush went for eight yards. Running back AJ Dillon carried the bulk of the load with 20 reps in the 36-28 win.

Jones’ official injury diagnosis was a sprained MCL. He rushed for 541 yards and three touchdowns this season prior to the injury.

Furthermore, the Packers are dealing with Aaron Rodgers and his toe injury, as well. According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, surgery is on the table for the Green Bay quarterback as the bye week approaches.

“Rodgers is now going to have some more tests today, and he has mentioned a couple of times the possibility of surgery,” Rapoport shared. “Usually at this point when you mention the possibility of surgery, it sounds more like the likelihood of surgery.

“If Aaron Rodgers’ tests go well today and he decides to have surgery, the plan is, of course, as he mentioned: fix that little baby toe that is broken, not miss any time, heal up in the bye week, get back for that Sunday night game against the Bears and be fine. That is the goal for this bye.”

Rodgers has thrown for 713 total yards, seven total touchdowns and zero interceptions in his last two games while managing his injury. Matt LaFleur certainly would prefer his quarterback be available and healthy.
