Matt LaFleur suggests Packers can find 'ways to move money' to bring back key players
The Green Bay Packers could look much different next season as some big names enter free agency. It doesn’t sound like money will be an issue for the Packers, though.
Wide receiver Davante Adams could enter free agency and Aaron Rodgers is getting ready to decide his future. That means two of the Packers’ star players could leave — drastically changing the roster next season.
Green Bay coach Matt LaFleur said there are ways the Packers can bring back some key players. After the Packers’ season-ending loss to the San Francisco 49ers, LaFleur spoke about bringing those playmakers back.
“There’s ways to move money and to make sure that we get the bulk of our key contributors back,” LaFleur said, via Packers.com. “Are there absolutely going to be some tough decisions? No doubt about it. But I’m really confident in Russ’ ability and Gutey’s ability and us collectively to figure out a way to do this thing.”
The Packers lost to the 49ers 13-10 on a last-second field goal from Robbie Gould on Saturday. Now, Green Bay enters a big offseason as some important pieces gear up for free agency.

NFL insider provides update on Aaron Rodgers situation with Packers
For the second consecutive offseason, there are a lot of questions surrounding the future of quarterback Aaron Rodgers with the Green Bay Packers. Rodgers expects to take his time with his decision, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
“It’s important for players to really take a step back and let all the emotion go past them and really collect themselves and figure out what they want to do. Judging from Aaron Rodgers’ comments, it seems like he’s leaning towards taking a step back,” Rapoport said. “But that’s exactly why players need to take some time, and that’s exactly what Aaron Rodgers plans to do.”
Rodgers had a strong season in Green Bay, and he will likely be one of the leaders in the NFL MVP race. On the season, he threw for 4,115 yards, 37 touchdowns and just four interceptions. The Packers earned the top seed in the NFC, but fell to the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional round of the playoffs on a last-second field goal.
