Matthew Stafford: 'Everybody on our team carves out their role'
This week the Los Angeles Rams showed that they are truly all in this season after signing Odell Beckham Jr. The star receiver shocked the NFL world by going to the Rams. He previously stated his decision was between the Kansas City Chiefs, Green Bay Packers, and New Orleans Saints. On Thursday Los Angeles quarterback an offseason acquisition Matthew Stafford talked about how surprised he was about the acquisition of Beckham.
“Nothing really surprises me anymore to tell you the truth,” Stafford said. “I know that this is an enticing city to play in. This is an enticing an organization to come play for. We have a bunch of other great players on this team — AD, Jalen, Cooper, all those guys. Great players. So, it’s exciting for other people to come in and play with those guys. So, I’m just happy to be a part of it.”
Stafford also explained the star receiver’s role with the Rams going forward.
“I’ve played with a bunch of good (receivers) in my career, and he’s up there,” Stafford said of Beckham. “He’s a talented guy. It’s one of those things where everybody on our team carves out their role. They do a great job of figuring out what that role is going to be and going out there and proving it — both on the practice field and in games — and then getting those opportunities. I know he’ll do the same. There’s a lot of time between now and that. We’ve just got to make sure that we’re on the same page, go out there and play ball.”
Rams star wide receiver tears ACL
The NFL gods giveth, and the NFL gods taketh away. On the same day that the Los Angeles Rams inked Odell Beckham Jr. for the remainder of the season, they lost Robert Woods to a torn ACL.
“On the same day that the team signed WR Odell Beckham Jr., Rams’ WR Robert Woods tore his ACL at practice Friday, sources tell Diana Russini and me,” tweeted ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Moreover, the news was shocking — Schefter revealed nobody thought much of the knee injury Woods’ sustained on Friday. Continuing, the NFL insider elaborated on how a torn ACL wasn’t even believed to be in the cards.
“Robert Woods hurt his knee at practice Friday. He went down, got up, finished practice, conducted interviews with the media after, nobody thought anything wrong,” tweeted Schefter. “Then, tests discovered later that he tore his ACL, per sources.”
In his first season with quarterback Matt Stafford, Woods was enjoying a productive year. In nine games, the former USC star caught 45 passes — accumulating 556 yards and four touchdowns.
