This past weekend at the Knoxville Nationals in Iowa, McKenna Haase suffered a terrifying crash that left her hospitalized. Haase has now been released from the hospital, offering an update on her health for fans.

McKenna Haase, 27, was attempting to qualify for the Saturday night A-Main. Knoxville Nationals is arguably the biggest Sprint Car race of the season. It is definitely a crown jewel.

Haase and her No. 55 sprint car went into the turn one wall and then flipped. It was a scary accident that involved Terry McCarl. The wreck happened on Lap 1, Turn 1 of her heat race.

“We are home! Words can’t describe how amazed and grateful we are by how supportive and loving the racing community has been this week. God is good,” Haase posted on X.com.

There was also a video message.

“Hi everyone, thank you so much for all the prayers and to everybody who reached out, we just got the news that the hole in my lung is stable enough for me to get discharged,” Haase said in a video. “So, we get to go home tonight. Just thank you to everybody who commented or sent flowers or cards or came to the merch trailer today and everybody for their generosity, it means more than you will ever know.

“I’m just very grateful to be alive and grateful to have a loyal, loving sprint car community surrounding us. It’s just really meant a lot to us and we’re just super thankful and hope to see y’all back at the track soon.”

When those sprint cars flip, it can get ugly quickly. You hate to see any driver get hurt. McKenna Haase went through quite an ordeal. Following the wreck, she was in a lot of pain with various injuries.

McKenna Haase thanks fans after scary crash at Knoxville

After the wreck on Friday night, McKenna Haase was unable to post online about her injuries. Instead, her mother went online to share updates for fans and loved ones worried about Haase.

When you see those cars flip, it makes you hold your breath. Thankfully, it seems the medical team at the track and hospital were able to do great work for Haase.

After the wreck, Haase’s mom posted on Facebook.

“Thank you to everyone who has reached out. Your prayers are all greatly appreciated. McKenna is currently in a lot of pain. She has chest pain, a pneumothorax in her lungs, ripped up mouth and tongue, very sore neck and body.

“She was to be transferred to Des Moines, but both trauma centers (Mercy and Methodist) are full. Knoxville hospital is going to hold her and continue to monitor the pneumothorax with x-ray and CT. We pray that they will not need to insert a chest tube. She is currently stable.”

So, good news, it’s great to see McKenna Haase is going back home. Hopefully, she is able to get behind the wheel again soon.
