Miami QB Cam Ward will not be throwing this weekend in Indianapolis. That is the news that surfaced on Friday morning.

While at the podium this morning, Ward shared he will not be throwing as part of his appearance at the NFL Combine. That’s with it having little impact on his stock and with another opportunity to do so later on in the process at his pro day.

“You know, me throwing here is not going to move me in no type of way,” Ward said. “You know, I’m just excited to throw at my pro day to, you know, the best receiving corps in the country.”

Friday was the day for interviews by the media for the quarterbacks at the combine after meetings and such the past three days. They’re then set to take the field tomorrow for measuring and their workout on Saturday. However, Ward won’t be among them for the throwing aspect of the combine. Neither will Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders per reporting earlier in the week.

This is all pretty standard, though, when it comes to the top quarterbacks in an NFL Draft. They’ll just meet with teams and the media before taking measurements, but not taking part in too much on-field work, while in Indy.

The Hurricanes held their pro day last year around mid-March. That would suggest around another month or so before Ward spins it for scouts for his evaluation as one of the top projected picks in April.

2025 NFL Draft: Mel Kiper Jr. makes huge changes to Top-10 QBs before NFL Combine

Amid all the will-he or won’t-he regarding which quarterbacks will ultimately throw at the NFL Combine on Saturday, Mel Kiper Jr. completely overhauled his latest Top 10 QBs in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Kiper remains higher than most on Shedeur Sanders, keeping the Colorado QB ahead of Miami‘s Cam Ward at No. 1. He then boosted the standing of two well-traveled veterans with Syracuse‘s Kyle McCord leapfrogging Alabama‘s Jalen Milroe as the No. 4 QB. Oregon‘s Dillon Gabriel jumped from ninth to sixth as well. Kiper also seems far less confident in Ohio State‘s Will Howard and Texas‘ Quinn Ewers by dropping them to No. 7 and No. 9, respectively.

Check out Mel Kiper’s full ranking ahead of the combine in Indy:

1. Shedeur Sanders – Colorado
2. Cam Ward – Miami
3. Jaxson Dart – Ole Miss
4. Kyle McCord – Syracuse (+2)
5. Jalen Milroe – Alabama
6. Dillon Gabriel – Oregon (+3)
7. Will Howard – Ohio State (-3)
8. Tyler Shough – Louisville
9. Quinn Ewers – Texas (-2)
T-10. Riley Leonard – Notre Dame
T-10. Kurtis Rourke – Indiana
