WATCH: Micah Parson gets second key to city for hilarious reason
Dallas Cowboys young star Micah Parsons received the key to his home city of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania for the second time, for a hilarious reason. Parsons is from the city of Harrisburg and played college football less than 100 miles away at Penn State. His love for the area and their love for him led to Parsons receiving the keys to the city after he was drafted by the Cowboys last year.
On Tuesday, Parsons was given a second key to the city because of a simple and embarrassing reason — he lost the first one.
Micah Parsons given second key to city
In a ceremony held at the MLK City Government Center in Harrisburg, Parsons was awarded the keys to the city — again — by Mayor Wanda Williams. The special moment for Parsons is another in a line of amazing experiences he has experienced since his breakout NFL season. Parsons has made appearances across the nation, including Wrestlemania with Ezekiel Elliott, dropping the puck for an AHL game and being at the weigh-in for a Showtime boxing match.
Parsons, a former Harrisburg High star, received the key to the city the first time when he was selected in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft by former Mayor Eric Papenfuse. In the announcement of Tuesday’s ceremony for Parsons, the City of Harrisburg stated that Parsons lost the previous one — something that Parsons has denied with good humor.

Whether it’s true or not, fans have embraced the joy and passion that Parsons brings to everything he does — especially on the field where he recorded 13 sacks as a rookie in the NFL.
The Cowboys will now look at the upcoming 2022 NFL Draft for another hidden gem like Parsons, as they seek to reload for a championship run after a disappointing early loss in last year’s playoffs. The NFL draft will begin on Thursday, Apr. 28, with Dallas facing the decision to try and trade up or pick a player they’ve been targeting with the 24th overall pick.
