Micah Parsons calls for patience with Bryce Young amid struggles: 'Let him develop'
When it comes to being a rookie quarterback in the NFL, there’s always going to be some growing pains. Bryce Young, the No. 1 overall pick of the Carolina Panthers, is finding that out firsthand.
Not only are the Panthers 1-8 and in last place in the NFC South, but Young has graded out as one of the worst quarterbacks statistically this season. While some are ready to label Young the dreaded “B” word, Micah Parsons isn’t — nor will he be anytime soon. Ahead of the Dallas Cowboys’ (6-3) Week 11 road matchup against the Panthers this Sunday, Parsons called for fans and media to give Young the necessary time to develop before making a final judgement on him.
“And I seen a lot of conversation with people bashing Bryce Young because he’s 1-8.” Parsons said on “The Edge” Podcast. “Do they regret not taking CJ Stroud? Absolutely not. Let Bryce Young develop. I think CJ Stroud may have went into a little bit better situation. There’s not a lot in Carolina right now. Their offensive line hasn’t been the best. Their running game hasn’t been the best. The receivers haven’t really been the best.
“So I don’t think we should just throw away Bryce just yet. I think we should let him get a couple years, give him that same grace as we did everybody else. Even guys like Trevor Lawrence who struggled their first year, look how well he’s doing. He grew, he grew. You got to build a team that supports him and around him. Give him time, let him break out. I think Bryce Young will have his breakout year, it’s just not this year.”
Bryce Young, Panthers offense struggling to score points
Through nine games this season, Young has thrown for 1,560 yards, eight touchdowns and seven interceptions on 62.8% passing. Carolina’s offense has been mired in futility, ranking 30th in yards per game (275.6) and 29th in points per game (17.0).

Intel on potential head coaching moves
Headed into a game against a big-time opponent like Dallas, head coach Frank Reich knows the offense must improve — and quickly.
“I would think if you talk to most of the players, they might not admit it, but when you’re going up against a hot team, guys know it’s an opportunity,” Reich said Monday. “Things have not been going well for us as a team. So, it’s an opportunity. It’s a great opportunity to go up and prove that we’re a good football team. You know, we beat one good football team, but we need to beat another good football team. So we’ll all get ready to play a good one this week.
“This team [the Cowboys] is hot. They have a lot of firepower on offense. They have some big-time playmakers on defense. You know, they’re good in all three phases. They’re a well-coached team, and they’ve got a lot of firepower. So, it’s a great challenge for us, and I think our coaching staff and our players are excited for that.”
