The Dallas Cowboys released their second practice report for their Week 8 game against the San Francisco 49ers, and there’s injury news on edge rusher Micah Parsons and cornerback DaRon Bland. Parsons, who has an ankle injury, did not practice for the second consecutive day, meaning he could miss his third game of the year. Bland also didn’t practice for the second straight day because of an injured foot.
Kicker Brandon Aubrey is on the practice report as has not practiced the last two days because of jury duty. The rest of the report includes CB Caelen Carson (shoulder, full participant), WR Ryan Flournoy (ankle, limited participant), LB Eric Kendricks (shoulder, limited), LB Marist Liufau (shoulder, full), DT Jordan Phillips (wrist, full), TE John Stephens (knee, did not participate) and LB Nick Vigil (foot, DNP).
Ahead of Thursday’s practice Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy told reporters what he needed to see out of Parsons to return to action. “Well, there’s always a threshold of return to play,” he explained. “He’s not over that threshold yet. Until he can get out there and cut it loose, I think when you have veteran players, the general is if they don’t practice on Saturday they’re not going to play in the game. If you’re looking for a finish line, it would be full participant player in Saturday’s practice.
“Obviously, you’d like to have him go in pads first on Thursday, but Micah has played a lot of football for us. He has a high understanding of our defense. That’s kind of a general approach that I’ve always taken.”

More on Micah Parsons and DaRon Bland injuries
Parsons injured his ankle on Sept. 26 when the Cowboys faced the New York Giants. Through four games this year, Parsons has recorded 14 tackles, two tackles for loss and one sack. He’s coming off a 2023 season where he notched 64 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, 14 sacks and two passes defended.
Bland suffered a stress fracture during training camp and started the season on injured reserve. The 21-day practice window opened for Bland on Oct. 9, and he began fully participating in practice. But he did not participate in the Cowobys’ final practice before the Week 6 matchup against the Detroit Lions, and it’s likely he won’t return on Sunday.
