After Front Office Sports reported Shannon Sharpe is likely to sign a new media deal worth more than $100 million, Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons reacted. He noted the response to his own podcast.

Parsons fired back at the idea of people telling him to “stop the podcast” after the report came out. Sharpe’s contract with Colin Cowherd’s The Volume expired, according to FOS’ Michael McCarthy and Ryan Glasspiegel, and he is expected to sign a $100 million media deal with his Shay Shay network – including the “Club Shay Shay” podcast.

After that report came down, Parsons called out those who say he should stop with his personal podcast. He, of course, was alluding to the number Sharpe is commanding for his show.

Parsons started his podcast “The Edge with Micah Parsons” in 2023 in partnership with Bleacher Report. He has had some big-name guests on the show, including Cowboys teammates such as regular contributor Trevon Diggs and, most recently, Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry. Parsons also shares thoughts on current topics around the NFL.

Similarly to Shannon Sharpe, Micah Parsons is also in line for a big payday as he enters the final year of his contract with the Cowboys. A four-time Pro Bowler, he won the NFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Year award and earned two First Team All-Pro selections as he became the focal point of the defense.

Parsons reported to voluntary workouts earlier this week as the two sides continue negotiations. The market has taken a few turns this offseason as both Maxx Crosby and Myles Garrett signed lucrative extensions, although Jerry Jones reiterated the lack of urgency to get Parsons’ contract done. As for when a new deal could come together, ESPN’s Adam Schefter said he expects something by the time Week 1 comes around.

“I would say that, eventually, both sides will figure out that deal and get it done,” Schefter said via Shan & RJ on Dallas’ 105.3 The Fan. “That would be my guess. There’s so much money involved and Dallas is going to want to keep him, he’s going to want to stay.

“When you’re talking about $40+ million a year, or whatever the number is, why are you ever stepping foot on a football field until that deal is done? To me, they’ll figure out a way to get that deal done because the stakes are just too great not to.”
