The most polarizing team in the NFL is undoubtedly the Dallas Cowboys, being covered more than any other franchise. And when they lose, the scrutiny begins to pile on, especially for star players. Micah Parsons is certainly one of them, only having one playoff win to his name in three years.

“You’d have to be blind to say that you don’t have expectations wearing a star,” Parsons said. “That’s why I say there’s a delusion factor. They say it’s okay not to win or act like those losses don’t hurt or don’t matter. That’s delusional to me. Because it’s earned.”

Dallas last won the Super Bowl back in 1996 when the Triplets were on the team. Since then, not even an NFC Championship game is on the resume — being years of heartbreak for the fans. This past season against the Green Bay Packers was just the latest example, losing in the NFC Wild Card Round despite being a heavy favorite.

Nothing but criticism has been surrounding the Cowboys since then. Plenty of people have asked why the job has not been completed and Parsons gave his latest theory why.

“The reality is, sometimes you are out-coached, sometimes you are out-schemed,” Parsons said. “Sometimes people have the answers for what you dial-up, and there’s nothing you can do. And the game plan you thought they were going to come out in, they come out different. That’s the reality of the NFL. It is physical. You need speed, you need strength, all that stuff. But so much of it is mental, IQ.

“The reality is, sometimes their team makes better plays. They make the splash plays, they make the deep shots, they make the best-contested catch. They do a better job containing CeeDee (Lamb) or whether it was Tony Pollard, but that’s just the reality of the situation.

“Sometimes their quarterback might have the best game of their life. We’ve seen that multiple times. A quarterback comes to Dallas and says, ‘I’m Pat Mahomes today.’ It’s just reality. That’s the expectation of Dallas. I’ve never shied from that.”

Dallas went into training camp with a ton of uncertainty regarding to future, their star pass rusher included. Parsons is in the middle of a contract negotiation but has been adamant his top priority is on the field and attempting to win the Super Bowl.

Another attempt will be made this season, with the pressure maybe being higher than ever.
