Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons suffered a high ankle sprain in the Cowboys’ 20-15 win over the New York Giants on Thursday. Per Clarence Hill Jr., Parsons was in a boot and on a scooter at the Cowboys’ practice on Monday.

On Sunday, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Parsons will miss seven to 10 days and then be reevaluated. The scooter is likely a precautionary measure by the Cowboys but it certainly isn’t a comforting scene for any Dallas diehards.

Parsons is a cornerstone of the Cowboys’ defense. Through four games this season, the former Penn State standout boasts 14 tackles, a sack and a pass deflection. In the 2023 campaign, Parsons amassed 64 tackles and 14 sacks, the seventh-most in the NFL.

Parson sustained the injury in the fourth quarter after Giants offensive lineman Greg Van Roten fell on his leg while he was rushing the passer. Parsons had to be carted off the field and was seen walking gingerly when the team arrived back in Dallas Friday morning.

Micah Parsons initially underwent X-rays on his left ankle, which were negative. Now, he will work to recover as quickly as possible. His teammates undoubtedly will miss him anytime he’s not on the field.

“He’s a helluva player. Big-time playmaker,” Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott said, via Todd Archer of ESPN. “I’m not watching a lot, but [he] made a huge run stop right there on one of those last possessions. And then honestly, I’m just hoping it’s not anything serious.

“There’s not a lot of doubts or negative thoughts that go through my head, so, yeah, I didn’t even want to think anything major. Hoping that my thoughts are right and it’s something small. He looked in good spirits, so I’m in good spirits. We’re in good spirits.”

On Sunday, the Cowboys will go head-to-head with the Pittsburgh Steelers at 8:20 p.m. ET. The game will air live on NBC.
