On Friday, the Dallas Cowboys officially ruled out EDGE Micah Parsons for their matchup against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Parsons has missed the Cowboys’ last two games due to a high ankle sprain he suffered in Dallas’ 20-15 win over the New York Giants on Sept. 26.
Prior to Week 5 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Parsons had never missed a game due to injury. He has yet to practice since sustaining the injury. On Monday, Parsons said his status for Sunday was undecided.
“It’s still [up] in the air,” Parsons said. “Obviously it’s more than just me. I have to clear it with [Cowboys director of rehab] Britt [Brown], the coaches, the head coach. They want to make sure — obviously because there’s so many games left — that I come back at the best result. Sometimes, it’s not always the player’s decision. It’s the people with the higher pay grade.”
The Cowboys need Micah Parsons to recover
The Cowboys could certainly use the two-time All-Pro back in the lineup, especially coming off the 47-9 blowout defeat to the Detroit Lions in Week 6. Dallas has generated 14 sacks through six games, just one coming from Parsons in the four games he has played. Parsons is the face of the Cowboys’ defense, having compiled 41.5 sacks in 54 games throughout his career.

Parsons said he feels good to go, physically.
“I don’t think there’s anything I can’t do physically,” Parsons said. “Like I said, it’s just more they want to make sure I’m at my best and they kind of know what my best looks like, and so it’s just one thing that just got to keep working and showing it. They’re monitoring the situation.”
Evidently, the Cowboys would rather be safe than sorry and will square off against the 49ers on Sunday without their star defender. The Cowboys and 49ers will face off at 8:20 p.m. ET. The game will air live on NBC.
