Cowboys star Micah Parsons appears to be trending in the right direction as far as being able to play Sunday afternoon against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy provided a positive update on Parsons when speaking with reporters on Friday.

“I’m hoping and anticipating with a full practice tomorrow that he’ll be ready to go Sunday,” Mike McCarthy said, according to Jon Machota.

That is obviously big news for Dallas as Micah Parsons has been out since he suffered an ankle injury in Week 4 when the Cowboys defeated the New York Giants. He has missed the last four games, and it’s the first big injury in his young NFL career. Before the injury, Parsons registered 14 tackles, two tackles for loss and one sack through four games.

The Cowboys have struggled with Micah Parsons unable to suit up as they are 1-3 in their past four games. He recently opened up about how difficult it has been to watch his team struggle.

“It’s tough because I feel like I could’ve made an impact in these games,” Parsons explained. “In those games where we’re losing by six points I definitely feel like I can make a difference. Six-point game, you tell me (that) me and (DeMarcus Lawrence) can’t make a difference, an extra stop in a one-score game. It’s hard for me to believe that we can’t. So my goal, if I’m up this week is to go out and prove that.”

The Cowboys are currently 3-5 on the year and have lost their last three games. The team ranks in the bottom half of the NFL in sacks with 18, so getting Parsons back in the lineup will be big since he has recorded at least 13 sacks in his first three seasons.

“I think we’re out of position. Guys are out of position,” Micah Parsons said last month. “You’ve gotta be in position to create turnovers. Sometimes, you [aren’t] going to get lucky and just swat at the ball and create those turnovers. You’ve gotta be in position. You’ve gotta tackle well, and you’ve gotta rally well.

“We got to get guys running to the ball more and obviously we got to put up more points. We’ve gotta get these teams out of these running game situations and [out of] feeling comfortable.”
