Micah Parsons injury update: Mike McCarthy reveals status ahead of Thursday practice
Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy gave an update on Micah Parsons who is dealing with an ankle injury. Parsons will not practice with the team on Thursday and will work with the rehab group. McCarthy told reporters that Parsons is not ready to work with the team on the practice field.
“He’s not quite there yet,” McCarthy said, per Jon Machota of The Athletic.
Parsons has missed the last three games due to the injury. Last week before the Cowboys took on the San Francisco 49ers, Parsons talked about making sure he’s at his “best” before returning to action. “I don’t think there’s anything I can’t do physically,” the three-time Pro Bowler said, per the Cowboys’ official website. “Like I said, it’s just more they want to make sure I’m at my best and they kind of know what my best looks like, and so it’s just one thing that just got to keep working and showing it. They’re monitoring the situation.”
With Micah Parsons not practicing in the first two days this week, he likely won’t be available when the team takes on the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. With the team losing the last two games and having a 3-4 record, the Cowboys need all the help they can get to turn things around. Last week, Parsons explained one of the issues going on with the Cowboys’ defense.

“I think we’re out of position. Guys are out of position,” Parsons said. “You’ve gotta be in position to create turnovers. Sometimes, you [aren’t] going to get lucky and just swat at the ball and create those turnovers. You’ve gotta be in position. You’ve gotta tackle well, and you’ve gotta rally well.
“We got to get guys running to the ball more and obviously we got to put up more points. We’ve gotta get these teams out of these running game situations and [out of] feeling comfortable.”
