Micah Parsons injury update: MRI results in on Dallas Cowboys star defender
Dallas Cowboys (2-2) star linebacker Micah Parsons has officially been diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain, according to Ian Rapoport. Parsons’ status is to be determined for the Cowboys’ next game, per the report.
Parsons initially underwent X-rays on his left ankle which were negative. He sustained the injury in the fourth quarter of Thursday’s 20-15 Week 4 road victory over the New York Giants (1-3) after offensive lineman Greg Van Roten fell on his leg while he was rushing the passer. Parsons had to be carted off the field and was seen walking gingerly when the team arrived back in Dallas Friday morning.
Parsons said after the game he was going to try to be back for next Sunday’s Week 5 road contest against the Pittsburgh Steelers (3-0).
“Right now, I just iced it,” Parsons said. “I know very little. I’ve got an MRI [Friday], and I’m going to try to get back next week.”

Giants keep Micah Parsons quiet in Week 4
Parsons was relatively held in check by New York’s offensive line, tallying just two tackles and zero quarterback hits. The two-time All-Pro remains the face of the Cowboys’ defense, having compiled 41.5 sacks in 54 games throughout his career.
“He’s a helluva player. Big-time playmaker,” quarterback Dak Prescott said, via Todd Archer of ESPN. “I’m not watching a lot, but [he] made a huge run stop right there on one of those last possessions. And then honestly, I’m just hoping it’s not anything serious.
“There’s not a lot of doubts or negative thoughts that go through my head, so, yeah, I didn’t even want to think anything major. Hoping that my thoughts are right and it’s something small. He looked in good spirits, so I’m in good spirits. We’re in good spirits.”
