Micah Parsons injury update: NFL insider reveals latest on Cowboys LB's recovery

Cowboys EDGE Micah Parsons suffered a high ankle sprain in Dallas’ 20-15 win over the New York Giants on Sept. 26 and hasn’t played since. On Monday, The Athletic‘s Jon Machota provided an update on Parsons’ impending return.
“Micah Parsons is progressing in his rehab from his high ankle sprain,” Machota wrote on X. “He’s feeling better and is going to attempt to practice on Wednesday.”
The Cowboys could certainly use Parsons’ talents next game. With their 27-21 loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, Dallas fell to 3-5 on the season. In the loss, the Falcons recorded 310 total yards of offense.
The Cowboys’ defense finished the game with two sacks and seven tackles for loss. While Parsons’ absence isn’t doing any favors for the Cowboys, he is far from the team’s only issue.
The team also lost quarterback Dak Prescott to a hamstring injury on Sunday that could sideline him for several weeks, according to the most recent reports. On Monday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter weighed on in if the Cowboys should attempt to make any trades before the deadline hits.

“The magic solution is not walking through that door Greeny,” Schefter said on Get Up. “No matter who they trade for, they’re not making a deal big enough to get a trade done that’s going to save their season. The die is cast on what this team is right now, they’re not going to go out and trade.
“‘Maybe we should check to see if they would be willing to move on from Micah Parsons,’ which I don’t think they would be, but those are the conversations that are going on. More than ‘Who is Dallas going to land at the deadline that’s going to help that run defense, that’s going to help that run game, that’s going to turn around this season, that’s going to get Dak’s hamstring healthy again, that’s going to get CeeDee Lamb’s shoulder healthy again?’
“This team has got so many issues that one trade, two trades, three trades — which aren’t going to happen — aren’t going to fix this roster by the 4 p.m. ET trade deadline.”
On Sunday, the Dallas Cowboys will square off against the Philadelphia Eagles at 4:25 p.m. ET. The game will air live on CBS.
