The Dallas Cowboys (5-3) were on the wrong side of the scoreboard in Week 9 Sunday, falling to the Philadelphia Eagles (8-1), 28-23.
While Dallas failed to gain ground on the defending NFC East champions, team legend and Pro Football Hall of Fame wideout Michael Irvin believes the scoreline would have been flipped if it were for one “small technicality.”
Speaking on Monday’s “Undisputed” on FS1, Irvin said the Cowboys lost because the game was played at Lincoln Financial Field, and not inside the friendly confines of AT&T Stadium.
“What we saw is, ‘No, Philly’s not too much for Dallas.’ Dallas, you are right there and I guarantee you Dallas will win this game in Dallas,” Irvin said. “Dallas will win this game in Dallas. And if you see them again, that game is so important because it tells you, ‘I don’t care where we see you again. Even if we see you here, we can get you here. We can beat you in Philly and that might even be sweeter.'”

The Cowboys gave themselves a chance to win the game on their final drive, as quarterback Dak Prescott marched the offense down to the red zone. But once the offense got to the 6-yard line, Philadelphia’s defense made a stand. On the next three plays, the offense went sack, incompletion and then had a delay of game penalty. On 3rd-and-26 from the 27-yard line, Prescott’s pass to receiver CeeDee Lamb went for 23 yards — short of the end zone. Time expired and the Eagles held on for the victory.
Dak Prescott shines in Cowboys’ loss to Eagles
Despite the loss, Prescott showed up with one of his best performances of the season. He completed 29-of-44 passes for a season-high 374 yards and three touchdowns. Cowboys star edge rusher Micah Parsons stood up for his quarterback after his dazzling showing.
“Dak is a freaking warrior,” Parsons said. “That’s Dak motherf***ing Prescott, bro. He’s a dog. He’s a warrior. I have an unbelievable amount of confidence in him. I felt he had a great game. People need to put more respect on him. He outplayed everyone today.”
