Michael Irvin promises 'primetime,' gleans information from Deion Sanders
Michael Irvin might see Deion Sanders as the savior of the Dallas Cowboys, providing them substance in an unexpected way.
Sanders talked to Cowboys owner Jerry Jones about the head coaching vacancy following Mike McCarthy’s departure. So while the Cowboys wander the proverbial desert of the NFL sans a Super Bowl title in the last nearly 30 years, Sanders might be the elixir of life Dallas needs.
At least, that’s how Irvin perceives these conversations.
“Well, you guys now know that he and Jerry have had conversations which I am so happy now to put that out in the ether and you guys finding that out,” Irvin said on The Herd with Colin Cowherd. “Yes, they are having conversations. When I talked to Deion last night and this morning, when I was talking to him … All I can say is that they are talking. I love when he tells me things like that. Really be careful, because I think that means things are moving in a way that we can’t just openly talk like we used to openly talk. I can’t get out here running my mouth like I need to, you know what I’m saying? So I don’t want to mess anything up, so I make sure I leave it right there.
“He said, ‘that’s all we can talk about right now,’ that they have had conversations, and that is manna from heaven, when he tells me that now, manna from heaven.”
Michael Irvin eager to talk Deion Sanders to Cowboys
Sanders has previously stated he didn’t want to coach in the NFL. He conceded recently that he would only coach in the NFL if he could coach his sons.
To describe this situation as “intriguing” is probably an understatement.
“To hear from Jerry Jones is truly delightful, and it’s intriguing,” Deion Sanders told ESPN on Monday night, via Adam Schefter. “I love Jerry and believe in Jerry. After you hang up, and process it, and think about it, it’s intriguing. But I love Boulder and everything there is about our team, the coaches, our student body and the community.”

The Cowboys probably didn’t expect to pivot towards Sanders for assistance. Then again, 40 years of wandering the desert, actually, scratch that: nearly 30 years without a Super Bowl title wasn’t the plan for Jones either.
Maybe Sanders is the bread of angels Dallas so sorely needs in 2025. Irvin could barely contain himself when discussing the topic.
“I’m excited to see what plays out,” Irvin said. “I’m gonna try to keep these these big old lips I got closed like Deion asked, but it’s a hard task. He understood it. He knows it’s hard because I’m excited too, so I gotta control myself …
“I’m so happy right now y’all because we’re gonna have a good off season, It gives us hope again. When I say I’m happy, I’m not happy about any man you’re fired, but just happy about a new direction. And what’s happening and what’s going to happen. We’re about to be in prime time. I meant football games. Y’all know what I mean.”
