Michael Jordan, 23XI Racing donating $1 million to Hurricane Helene relief efforts
Michael Jordan and 23XI Racing announced Monday they are donating $1 million to Hurricane Helene relief efforts in North Carolina.
23XI is contributing $500,000 each to the NC Disaster Relief Fund and Second Harvest of Metrolina.
“Our hearts go out to everyone suffering from Hurricane Helene’s devastation,” Jordan said in a statement. “23XI Racing and I are honored to support the NC Disaster Relief Fund and Second Harvest of Metrolina as they help rebuild lives, restore hope and ensure that those affected receive the assistance they need.
“While the process of recovery will take a long time, as a proud North Carolinian, I know firsthand the strength and resilience of the people in this state we call home… We will get through this together.”
Michael Jordan, other sports figures donate to Hurricane Helene relief fund
Helene made landfall as a Category 4 hurricane in the Florida panhandle this past Thursday. It soon swept through Georgia, the Carolinas and Tennessee. Helene brought catastrophic flooding throughout Appalachia, and as of Monday morning, two million homes and businesses remained without power.

104 deaths have been confirmed, according to The Washington Post. At least 35 deaths have been reported in North Carolina, the home state of Jordan and 23XI.
Several other sports teams and leagues have donated to relief funds, including the NFL. The league is providing $8 million to support communities affected by Helene. Contributions have come from the Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, Houston Texans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and NFL Foundation.
“Our hearts go out to all of those impacted by Hurricane Helene… The NFL is committed to doing our part to help the affected communities recover,” said Alexia Gallagher, NFL vice president of philanthropy and executive director of the NFL Foundation. “The NFL is privileged to play a vital role in communities across the country. And we are proud to work with the Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, Houston Texans and Tampa Bay Buccaneers to provide critical resources and support to those in need.”
