Making the move from Front Row to Spire Motorsports was a big decision for Michael McDowell and it appears a good one. McDowell is bringing one of his sponsors, B’laster will partner with the No. 71 car this NASCAR season.

B’laster has been a longtime motorsports sponsor. Last season they partnered with Michael McDowell at Front Row. Now they are coming to Spire with McDowell. That is a big deal for the 40-year-old driver.

Spire Motorsports has its own set of sponsors such as Group 1001 and Gainbridge. There are options for all of their drivers under a few team partners. It doesn’t hurt that McDowell is bringing a little extra funding.

B’laster will adorn the No. 71 at the first Talladega race and at Mexico City. That has to be exciting for the company.

“I’m thrilled to have the B’laster team join me at Spire Motorsports in 2025,” said McDowell in a team press release. “B’laster was with me last year and I am thankful to have them partner with our No. 71 team. B’laster is so important to both the automotive and powersports spaces and their products are second to none. I hope I can take the B’laster colors to victory lane and make the most of our partnership.”

The Daytona 500 champ and winner at the 2023 Indy Road Course is hoping to bring his winning ways to Spire. He will be the veteran, paired alongside 25-year-old Justin Haley and 21-year-old Carson Hocevar.

Michael McDowell is perfect fit at Spire Motorsports

Right now, I am bullish on Spire Motorsports. They have the 2024 Rookie of the Year in Hocevar. McDowell has won the Daytona 500 and just won the most pole awards in the Cup Series last season. Then there is Justin Haley who is an incredibly talented driver in his own right, paired up with Rodney Childers.

For McDowell, he will have a familiar face on the pit box. Travis Peterson came over from Front Row with his driver. The two have built a bond over the years and are hoping that they can keep that going with their new organization.

Last year was a mixed bag for Spire. Zane Smith struggled. Corey LaJoie did not improve like they expected him to. Hocevar was perhaps the only bright spot until late in the season when Smith started to race on-par with his rookie teammate.

There is a lot to be positive about with Michael McDowell’s move to Spire. Right now it appears to be a perfect fit. But we won’t fully know until we see the 71 car hit the track at Daytona and beyond.
