Report: Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh to meet with Chargers for second time
Things appear to be heating up between Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh and the Los Angeles Chargers.
Harbaugh is set to meet with the Chargers for the second time later this week about their opening, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Harbaugh previously interviewed with the Chargers last Monday. He is also scheduled to meet with the Atlanta Falcons for a second time this week, according to Tom Pelissero of tthe NFL Network.
Jim Harbaugh is one of the top candidates for the Chargers vacancy, according to Adam Schefter. He previously said this about the Chargers’ interest in Harbaugh.
“He’s met with two teams. He’s met with the Chargers and he’s met with the Falcons,” Schefter said on ESPN’s Get Up last Thursday. “Now, the Chargers are a team that, to me, has identified him and I think he’s right near, if not, at the top of their list,” Schefter continued. “And the question is whether they can get something done with Jim, who’s spoken in the past with the Vikings two years ago about going to the NFL, it didn’t happen, and with the Broncos last year, didn’t happen.”
Jim Harbaugh has been a successful coach everywhere he has been. He turned the Stanford program around, going 12-1 and leading the Cardinal to the Orange Bowl in his final season there. Harbaugh then took the 49ers to the Super Bowl, where they came up just short of winning the championship. After that, he returned to his alma mater Michigan and over the past three seasons in Ann Arbor has three straight Big Ten titles and a national championship.

After Michigan won the national title, he sat down with ESPN’s Rece Davis and was asked about his future and if he was interested in going to the NFL.
“It was such a great feeling last night celebrating and really cool to wake up this morning and it wasn’t a dream,” Harbaugh said. “That was real and it felt almost just as good as last night. We want to take a happy flight back to Ann Arbor, Michigan.
“The guys want a parade. So, gosh darn it, let’s give them a parade. I’m looking forward to that, too. Then we’ll see what happens. No man knows the future. Nobody can predict that. That’s biblical, and right now feels pretty darn good.”
Ravens coach John Harbaugh, who is the brother of Jim, recently had high praise for his brother.
“He may be the best team builder in football right now,” John Harbaugh told ESPN’s Adam Schefter. “Nobody builds a team better. He knows how to put it together, top to bottom. He knows how to include people. Knows how to make them part of it. He knows how to empower people.”
