On Tuesday, Michigan State freshman Jase Richardson announced his intentions to declare for the 2025 NBA Draft. Along with his announcement, Richardson included a heartfelt message reflecting on his time at Michigan State.

“After an unbelievable season filled with growth, learning, and unforgettable experiences, I’ve decided to declare for the 2025 NBA Draft,” Richardson wrote. “I’m extremely grateful to Coach Izzo and the entire Michigan State coaching staff for the opportunity to represent Michigan State Basketball. I can’t thank you all enough for your unwavering support and your commitment to my growth, both on and off the court.

“To my teammates, the bonds and memories we created this year will last a lifetime. You pushed me every day to be better, and I’m proud to call you my brothers. Finally, I wouldn’t be here without the love, sacrifice and support of my family. You’ve been with me every step of the way, and no words can truly express my gratitude for your continued belief in the player I’m becoming.

“This is an exciting step in my journey, and I’m looking forward to see what GOD has planned for me. I’m forever grateful to the Spartan community for all their support throughout the season and honored to be a Spartan Dawg.”

In Richardson’s lone campaign in East Lansing, he made 36 appearances and 15 starts. He averaged 12.1 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 25.3 minutes per game. The 6-foot-3 freshman shot 49.3% from the field and 41.2% from beyond the arc.

Evidently, experts believe Jase Richardson could find similar success at the next level. In ESPN’s latest NBA mock draft, Jonathan Givony projected Richardson to be the No. 14 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.

“Richardson turned the corner in a major way over the second half of the Spartans’ season, finding another notch with his aggressiveness and productivity while shouldering greater offensive responsibility efficiently as a starter,” Givony wrote. “His pace, skill level, feel for the game and shotmaking prowess give him an outstanding framework at 19 years old, especially with his defensive intensity.”

Richardson averaged 13 points per game during the NCAA Tournament. The son of former NBA star, Jason Richardson, won’t have to wait much longer to find out where he lands at the next level. The NBA Draft will take place on June 25 at 8 p.m. ET.
